The Last Page of August

August, 1962. Young archivist Clara Hart accepts a position at a crumbling manor house in the Yorkshire moors. Her task: to catalogue the private library of the reclusive and recently deceased novelist, Edward Langley. Among the dusty shelves and forgotten first editions, Clara discovers a single, handwritten letter tucked inside a copy of Wuthering Heights.

The letter reveals a passionate, forbidden love affair between Langley and a woman whose name appears nowhere in his official records — a woman who was erased from his life and from history.

Sixty years later, in the summer of 2022, Clara’s granddaughter, Nora — a cynical digital archivist who has never believed in happy endings — returns to the same manor, now derelict and scheduled for demolition. Haunted by her grandmother’s recent death, Nora finds the same letter, still hidden in the same book.

As Nora unravels the mystery of Edward Langley’s lost love, she discovers that some secrets are never truly buried — and that the last page of any story is never really the end.
